At Pursuit Performance, we take a progressive, science led approach to endurance coaching, combining the latest training methodologies with a deep understanding of the individual demands of running. Whether you’re preparing for your first race or striving for a performance improvement, our coaching is built around your goals, abilities, lifestyle and adapts to your unique needs. To maintain the highest level of support, we work with a limited number of athletes, ensuring each one receives the time and attention they deserve. Our goal is to empower you with the structure, expertise, and guidance you need to help you train with clarity and purpose.

"There are many factors which can be easily overlooked when it comes to optimising  athletic performance, from lifestyle demands to biomechanical characteristics. Training isn’t just about heading out the front door and logging the miles, it’s about taking every step to best facilitate your performance, considering all your individual factors. For example, one aspect in my case was how to be more reactive to changes within a race. I pitched this to Pursuit Performance and they broke it down into a segmented plan, including areas to strengthen in the gym, tailored speed sessions catering to that specific stimulus and regular 121 chats discussing race tactics. This approach has improved my training and has resulted in some of my best performances. We begin with a 1:1 conversation to understand your goals, training history, lifestyle, and your ambitions. This allows us to identify key opportunities for development and helps to individualise your training. 

 

We then create a fully individualised, scientifically informed training program, which is shared with you through Final Surge, an online training platform. 

This is tailored not just to your running, but to your wider holistic lifestyle. This may also include: 

• Strength & conditioning program

• Injury prevention strategies

• Recovery protocols

• Performance mindset & psychological skills

 

We provide consistent support through regular check-ins, data analysis, and dynamic plan updates based on your feedback and progress. Expect expert guidance, open communication  and adaptation every step of the way to ensure optimal outcomes.

Race Specific Plans

Designed to meet the specific demands of your target event—while considering the unique physiological, physical, psychological and contextual factors that underpin your individual performance.

    Identify your unique physiological training zones to optimise training intensity distribution and physiological improvements. 

  • Lab-Based Physiological Testing
    In collaboration with leading university sport science labs, we offer physiological profiling - VO₂ max testing, metabolic analysis, and more. Providing validated performance data to inform your training strategy.

  • Comprehensive Physical Profiling
    Assess key strength, mobility, and movement competencies to identify performance gaps.

  • Biomechanical Analysis
    Detailed assessment of running mechanics to optimise efficiency, address imbalances, and improve running economy.

  • Injury Risk Screening
    Structured evaluations to identify potential weaknesses, asymmetries, or overuse risks before they lead to injuries.

Who we are 

Harvey Maguire

Harvey is a British Athletics licensed coach with an extensive background in coaching and Physiotherapy. Drawing from over 13 years working as a Physiotherapist in high performance sport, including The FA, England Athletics and Athletics New Zealand, his attention to detail ensures a comprehensive approach to getting the best out of the athletes he works with. 

He is currently co-head coach at Unsanctioned Athletics Racing Collective, a new, innovative racing team pushing the boundaries in the running scene. 

Harvey's approach is based off scientific principles, adapting these to meet the needs of the person he works with.  "I try to avoid my own biases and beliefs to ensure that I stay open minded to find the best training solutions to help the person I'm working with."

Gareth Maguire

Gareth is an England Athletics licensed coach with an extensive background in coaching and biomechanics, spending the last 8 years working in and around high performance sport. Coaching beginners all the way through to elite athletes. 

He is currently co-head coach at Unsanctioned Athletics Racing Collective, a new, innovative racing team pushing the boundaries in the running scene. 

Gareth's coaching philosophy is based on a science driven approach to help athletes strive to improve their performance. "Running is such an individual sport, therefore, it's imperative for me that athletes are all treated as individuals, and their training plans will always be indicative of that".
